Dan and I are setting up several servers in his basement to use as a compile farm of sorts. Our first try into clustering computers. We've got about 6ghz worth of computers (5 computers) hooked up. Each computer is running Gentoo and a distributed compiler. So far it is working. Next will be to distribute other things.. like cracking md5 hashes.. or other cpu intensive tasks (maybe seti ?).

geez, stuff compiles REALLY fast now.

Congratulations to the two of you on a cool project well underway...just think, if you can pick up a bunch of old cheapie computers for under $50 per box you could conquer the world ;-)

Well maybe not the world, but SETI would love you for it.
